When thinking of what mods to my patterns I wanted to do this year, I planned on bee themed for my Heart Pouch Pattern and Wine Necklace Pattern. But for some reason the bunny didn’t immediately occur to me! But when it clicked, I was like how did I not think of this before?!

This adorable Bumble Bun is a modification to my Egg Bunny Pattern. With just a few alterations and additions to the pattern you can easily make this cutie! Just follow the worsted weight instructions in the pattern. Or if using Bernat Blanket Yarn or another super bulky weight, just use the blanket yarn instructions included in the pattern.

These little bee bunnies are a great addition to your spring craft show line up!

You can purchase a personalized sign like the one shown above here.

Materials:

  • 4.5mm & 6mm hooks (or a hook 2-3 sizes larger than what you used for the body)

  • Worsted weight yarn in Yellow, Black and White. I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Yellow, Black and Metallic White

  • Cotton yarn or thread for nose in color of choice

  • Poly-fil

Body:

With G Hook. Make as directed in pattern with the following color changes…

Rounds 1-2: Black

Round 3: Yellow

Round 4: Black

Round 5: Yellow

Round 6: Black

Round 7: Yellow

Round 8: Black

Rounds 9-End: Yellow

Tip: Work in joined rounds for Rounds 1-8, carrying the yarn up as you go.  When you place the eyes, make sure the seam is centered on the BACK SIDE of the bunny.  This will be mostly covered by the tail and the seam will barely be noticeable. And the stripes will be level and not jagged.

Ears: Make 2 as directed in pattern with the Yellow.

Antennae: Make 2. With G Hook & black, CH4, 2SC in 2nd CH from hook. SLST to end. FO.  Sew on centered in front of ears.

Up close of the crocheted antenna and ears.

Feet: Make 2 as directed in pattern with the Black.

Tail: As directed in pattern with the yellow and black.

Super simple crocheted bee wings are based off of the ears.

Wings: With a hook size 2-3 sizes larger than what you used on the bunny…

  • Follow directions for the ears, but omit rounds 6-8
  • Sew on to back centered, with the wings pointed down.

Here is a Bee Bunny made by Amanda’s Crafts on Instagram. Amanda took this to the next level by using Bernat Blanket Yarn in Yellow, Black and White. Instead of crocheting the Antennae, she used pipe cleaners. Isn’t this just ADORABLE???
